Our Story

Our founders, Jonny & Jean, are both designers at heart. As an Architect and a Carpenter, they met as students studying in Leicester. Using their spare garage in between lectures and blending their skills created the perfect match and enabled them to innovate an outdated industry. From the first few designs, our bed range has come a long way, but at the core, it’s still the same made to order approach as what we do today.

Beds are not new, but one that lasts, is to your style, fits your room and is delivered in a few days, is something that has been missing from the bed industry. Our vision became possible through a passion for delivering a product in an industry that was previously letting down so many people.

Initially we thought that enabling personalisation and many choices for our bed designs would be impossible. Customisation and scaling at lightening speed is notoriously difficult in manufacturing. However, it was so important for us to offer this, that through careful consideration, managing the end to end process and above all, a team of expert craftsmen with years of experience has made this possible. We’re still leading the industry in this field.

By avoiding costs of physical stores or fees from middlemen, we provide the highest possible value we can. Every saving from our increased efficiencies is passed to our customers. Enabling us to keep on handcrafting high-quality beds at reasonable prices.

It’s taken years of thorough testing and refinement to perfect the design and durability of each bed. This is why only the finest materials are used: 100% solid wood for the bed frame and slats that are 2x thicker and wider than the industry standard and covers 70% of the bed frame base to provide a solid foundation.

We take our environmental responsibility seriously. We support The International Tree Foundation (ITF) by donating vital funds to aid their 20 Million Tree Campaign. We fully support ethical buying and all our Scandinavian Pine is sustainably sourced from FSC & PEFC forests. Any excess waste is made into wood briquettes and donated to the local community to help reduce their heating bills.

Today sees us delivering to 97% of countries around the world, from the remote location in Knoydart in Scotland or a dog bed to Lori in America. Throughout the years we always strived to incorporate our carpentry craftsmanship into aesthetic designs that please both form & function. Get Laid Beds is on a mission to consistently innovate in our approach to bed design, and through the years we added a wider range of bed frames into our catalogue. 2019 saw additions to our platform beds range, through the introduction of the Deco Bed. In the same year, we introduced an Arabian tone in our four poster canopy beds collection, through the introduction of the Moroccan Four Poster Bed. We also expanded our low bed frames offering through the introduction of the simple yet elegant Low Enkel bed frame.
